Teal Glass Sculpture ‘ Teal Fold 2’ by Lisa Pettibone

Lisa Pettibone’s teal glass sculpture was inspired by gravity and its effects. The sculpture suggests how fabric might move in a weightless environment. It asks you to think “is the piece folding or unfolding in microgravity”?

Part of the ‘Fold Series’ each teal glass sculpture is a unique form made using 3mm sheet glass.  It is semi-transparent using a Venetian technique.

An intriguing and directional piece of glass artistry. The teal glass sculpture can be positioned at a few different angles. This offers the viewer many different perspectives and will prove to be a real talking point when friends come to visit.

N.B. The piece may be  ‘polished’ with a dry cloth or a cool, damp cloth if necessary. It mustn’t be cleaned with soap. The glass has small bubbles and flaws as expected with sheet art glass.

Glass Sculpture Artist

Lisa Pettibone is a UK based artist originally from California with a background in graphic design. Her practice questions how force, energy and shapes bring the world together as filtered through human perception. She then turns these ideas into creative and sculptural forms.

Using a variety of media and materials, Lisa creates directional sculptures (glass, fabric, paper, plastic). She also uses printmaking and photography to research how man and nature interact. Lisa is fascinated by science and her artistic process includes scientific concepts and collaboration. A growing interest in astronomy and physics has inspired her recent work.

Lisa has a BA(Hons) 3D Design in Glass from UCA Farnham. Then, she went on to complete an MA in Art and Science from Central Saint Martins, London. She is currently artist-in-residence at Mullard Space Science Laboratory (UCL), which has proved to be the perfect place to bring together science and art.

Lisa primarily works from her studio in Surrey. She develops work for exhibitions, as well as commissions and regularly teaches glass-making courses.

Lisa’s work is held in private collections and she has also won a number of prestigious awards. Her art was selected for The Aesthetica Art Prize 2013. In 2017 she won the National Open Art Prize Installation Category. Lisa also completed two commissions for the National Trust. These include Lacock Abbey, Wiltshire and The Vyne near Basingstoke. The prestigious Discerning Eye Exhibition (2015 and 2018) also showcased her work.
