Small Glass Sculpture ‘Metamorphosis Change II’ by Imogen Davis
Metamorphosis Change II is a small glass sculpture that represents the change occurring within a chrysalis. The sculpture has two opposing facets and when viewed in alternative angles you will see different reflections within the glass enticing you to look deeper within.
This delightful small glass sculpture can hold its own as a stand-alone piece on a shelf or side table or display it with the larger Metamorphosis Change I to increase the design impact.
Small Glass Sculpture Artist
Imogen Davis is a talented artist from the UK. She studied 3D Design at Manchester School of Art, where she was immediately seduced by the medium of hot glass. The tactility of objects is a key factor for Imogen, and her pieces beg her audience to touch as well as to admire them.
Imogen began exploring the use of textures within the glass, and soon realised the beauty in the optical effects one can create using different shaping techniques. Contrasting organic form with clean-cut facets soon became the basis of her work, along with the exploration of various colour techniques.
After graduating from university, Imogen exhibited at New Designers 2016 and was proudly featured in the CGS New Graduate Review.
Imogen is honing her skills and developing into an extremely skilled glass practitioner, working at Daedalian Glass Studios and Loco Glass, with plans to open her own public studio in the near future.
In a short period of time, Imogen has already started to make a name for herself as a glass artist. She is eager to keep pushing her ideas further and exploring the different possibilities with the material. Imogen embraces the challenges of working with glass and pushes herself to achieve a high standard and to keep producing new and interesting pieces of decorative sculpture.
