Yellow Sculpture – Artist

Andrej Jančovič glass artist, hails from Šaľa, in Slovakia.

His optical glass work combines the angular beauty of geometry with a finely polished finished piece of work.

He also works with acid-etched uranium glass and natural shapes found in nature.

The glass work that Andrej creates has beautiful, clean lines and sharp angles that make it very alluring to the eye.

Born in 1986, Andrej began his art studies in Bratislava at Josef Vydra’s School of Applied Art from 2002 to 2005, where he worked with ceramics and porcelain. 

He graduated and went on to the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (AFAD) in 2005 to begin his glass studies.

In 2006, he was one of the finalists of the Gallery Nova Award at Gallery Zichy, Bratislava, Slovakia.

His glass studies continued in 2009 at the Academy of Art in Wroclaw, Poland, where he worked with ceramics and glass.

In 2011, Andrej Jančovič came back to AFAD in Bratislava, where he gained his Master’s degree from the glass department.

Just after leaving AFAD, in 2012, he was one of the winners of the Stanislav Libenský Award in Prague, Czech Republic

His work has been exhibited in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Germany and France.

In 2014, he exhibited at the Coburger Glass prize in Coburg, Germany.

In Munich, Germany, Andrej Jančovič glass artist, exhibited his artwork at Talents 2017. 

Contemporary Slovak Glass 1960 -2020 exhibition at the Museum of Glass Conches, France, featured Andrej Jančovič’s glass pieces.

In the Slovak Glass Museum in 2024, there was an exhibition entitled Glass / Geometry / Space led by Jančovič / Barkóci / Sojka. at RONA Gallery, Lednické Rovne, Slovakia.
