3D paper artwork ‘Hope – On A Summer Breeze’ by Amanda Deadman

Amanda Deadman’s ‘Hope-On A Summer Breeze’ is a delightful 3d paper artwork full of joyous colours and details which will keep you captivated!

This is the second “Hope” piece she has created – symbolising emergence into better, and happier times. Each flower and leaf is constructed by hand. You can see lots of different shaped petals and leaves made from watercolour paper. Every piece is sprayed several times in watercolour and acrylic using a spray diffuser.

Amanda creates her sculptural pieces intuitively. She begins by placing the leaves and ferns around the edge of the circle first, then added flowers from the centre outwards, and also three different sizes of butterfly. The whole piece is framed in a deep white box frame glazed with Perspex.

The result is a vibrant and colourful textured relief design revealing individual flowers and butterflies on closer inspection. And as with all her 3d paper artwork the different shadows cast are as interesting as the piece itself

Amanda cuts her paper pieces by hand, use card punches, and also uses a dye cutting machine. To enhance the 3D look she sometimes mounts each piece on differing heights of tiny foam board plinth.

3D Paper Artwork Artist

Amanda Deadman creates stunning 3D paper artwork made from handpainted and cut paper pieces.  Beautiful, bright and colourful artwork and that will certainly elevate your walls!

Amanda’s art journey began with a degree in 3D design and photography from West Surrey College of Art and Design. She works with a variety of media. From college, she produced kiln formed glass for sale exclusively through Aaronson galleries in Piccadilly London, and Edinburgh, Scotland. She has also painted all her life, producing photo-realistic work, in watercolour and acrylic on canvas.  Her sculptural artwork exists in galleries and collections across the globe.

More recently, Amanda has returned to her 3D roots and now specialises in creating beautiful, intricate and detailed cut watercolour and paper artworks. She loves using watercolour, gold leaf and gold ink, and creating interesting colour graduations.

She has also branched out into creating completely white artworks which she continues to explore.

Amanda Deadman sculptures are handmade in her tranquil home studio in North Oxfordshire, UK.  The natural world, such as flowers, insects, birds, and fish inspires her artworks. She is also very much a book and film fan, and her favourite films and books, such as ‘The Italian Job’ and ‘Jonathan Livingstone Seagull’ also feature in her work.

Boha welcomes Amanda and her delightful paper sculptures to our gallery.
