Galaxy Sculpture ‘Constellation’ by Peter Newsome
Constellation is a galaxy sculpture piece that captives all that cast their eye upon it. Just as the heavenly constellations of stars are formed by a combined spectrum of totally different stars, constellations reflect this. It does so with a spiral assembly of different types of glass in this abstract sculpture. Glass, stainless steel and marble come together to create this harmonious, intriguing piece.
Peter’s glass art sculptures capture the imagination, are open to interpretation, and can send the viewer into a dream-like state of reverie for the bigger questions out there in the heavens above us.
Galaxy Sculpture Artist
Peter Newsome Ph D, FRSS left a career in scientific research to become a professional sculptor. 28 years ago he became fascinated by the unique beauty of glass and the challenge to work with such a medium.
Not following the traditional techniques of a glassblower. Peter uses glass cutting skills which he has developed over the years coupled with his own adaptation of glass engineering techniques.
Peter’s work is of an abstract nature, a celebration of light and form. He seeks to celebrate the mysteries of nature and the mind. He takes great satisfaction in the changing play of light, creating a relationship between the sculpture and the movement of the viewer.
Peter lives and works from his studio at his home in Cheam, Surrey. He has exhibited across the UK as well as in New York. Peter has also made an appearance on the Discovery Channel for Europe. He has been commissioned by British Gas for a presentation given by HRH Princess Anne. Various corporate clients such as The London Hilton, Canary Wharf, Royal Caribbean Line and Guardian Newspapers have all seeked commissions. Peter Gabriel, Greg Dyke, and private collectors in three continents all have Peter’s work in their collections.
Peter is a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors and became a Fellow in 2014. In 2010 he was elected RBA.
