Glass Nest ‘Nesting’ by Cathryn Shilling

This kiln formed glass nest by Cathryn Shilling is meticulously worked together from strand upon strand of fine glass. Each cane of glass is layered and intertwined upon the next, created a nesting bowl. In the fragile bowl, you will find crystal eggs nesting, made by the South London Foundry. The delicacy of this piece and the light it exudes will leave you overwhelmed, the nest glistening in the natural light of your home.

For a glass art piece that brings nature right into your home, choose this glass nest by Cathryn. The finished nest is a perfect representation of a bird’s nest found in nature. Each strand is worked with the same precision that a mother bird does to protect her eggs. Bringing nature into your home, the attention to detail of this glass sculpture is second to none.

Glass Nest Artist

Cathryn Shilling is internationally renowned for her glass art. She currently lives and works in London, having returned from the USA in 2004. Upon her graduation from the Central School of Art and Design in London, Cathryn worked as a designer until her family relocated to America in 2001. Cathryn’s Kiln art glass has been exhibited internationally. Her work has been seen in all corners of the globe, from the Netherlands to Mexico, to Japan and Denmark. Her most recent exhibition in 2017 where she collaborated with Anthony Scala at the British Glass Biennale led her to win the Craft and Design Award. Cathryn’s work has also led to her winning the number 25 spot of Most Amazing Glass Artists Alive Today. In 2013 she won the Warm Glass Artists Prize and has also been twice nominated for the SUWA Garasuno-Sato Glass Prize. From the kiln of her London Studio, Cathryn brings you the glass nest.
