Bell Shaped Bottle ‘Mono’ by Thomas Petit

Bring the seashore right into your home when you choose the Bell-Shaped Bottle ‘Mono’ by Thomas Petit. Taking his inspiration from childhood visits to the South Coast, this hand-ground bottle boasts an elegant long stopper. The serenity of this piece is accentuated in his careful choice of ocean blue and turquoise. Sit back on the sand and let the waves lap by your feet, the ebb and flow of the tide sending you into a world where time stands still.

Lose track of time when you bring this Bell Shaped Bottle into your home. Captured inside are tales from the sea. Lift the stopper from the bottle and listen to the ocean wave. Thomas’ beautiful relationship with nature is beautifully represented in this piece. The perfect ornamental piece for a bedside table, a window sill, or mantel. Bottles from the magical ‘Sea Shore’ range capture a world where everyone is at peace, and the only sounds around are the gulls above, and the crashing of the waves on the rocks below.

Bell Shaped Bottle Artist

Thomas Petit started in the world of clay, before entering the field of glass art. At first unwilling to expand his knowledge, he then remembered a visit to a Dartington Crystal Factory to watch glassblowing as a child. This memory jolted his desire to broaden his horizons, and Thomas embarked on a glass blowing course in Cornwall. Financial difficulty meant he was able to accept a three-year apprenticeship, and Petit eventually took up a voluntary position at The Glasshouse in Covent Garden. After various jobs and time spent in New Zealand. Thomas settled in Derbyshire, on the edge of the Peak District.

Feeling the stress of working a full-time job in 2015, and juggling it with his glassmaking meant Thomas was to make an important decision. By 2016, Thomas was concentrating solely on his glassblowing. Inspiration for his works comes from both everyday objects and experiences as well as from art and his own photography. Many of his best works have been happy accidents, he confesses. One of his latest ranges that continues to evolve his ‘Sea Shore,’ inspiration coming from his childhood trips to East Sussex. All his pieces in this range are ground by hand, and sheen is restored by buffing when necessary after sandblasting. The Bell Shaped Bottle is just one fine example of the Sea Shore Range.
