Coastal Vases ‘Seashore -Flattened’ by Thomas Petit
The skilful hands of Tomas Petit bring us the ‘Seashore’ collection of coastal vases. Look at these alluring vases and you are immediately transported to the seaside on one of those balmy days.
Thomas Petit artfully mixes and fuses strands of coloured glass to create these fine and intricate coastal vases. The delicate layers combine to give a sense of rolling “waves”, so much so you can almost imagine yourself there, breathing in the sea air and feeling the sand beneath your feet.
They will certainly add a “splash” of elegant luxury to any area of your home, hotel or office. They are sure to impress all who view them.
Coastal Vases Artist
Thomas Petit started in the world of clay, before entering the field of glass art. At first, he was unwilling to expand his knowledge, he then remembered a visit to a Dartington Crystal Factory. This memory jolted his desire to broaden his horizons, and Thomas embarked on a glass blowing course in Cornwall. Financial difficulty meant he was able to accept a three-year apprenticeship, and Petit eventually took up a voluntary position at The Glasshouse in Covent Garden. After various jobs and time spent in New Zealand. Thomas settled in Derbyshire, on the edge of the Peak District.
Feeling the stress of working a full-time job in 2015, and juggling it with his glassmaking meant Thomas was to make an important decision. By 2016, Thomas was concentrating solely on his glassblowing. The inspiration for his works comes from everyday objects and experiences and art and his own photography. Many of his best works have actually been happy accidents, he confesses. One of his latest ranges that continues to evolve is the ‘Sea Shore,’ inspiration coming from his childhood trips to East Sussex.
