Glass Prism ‘Serenity’ Orange by Sabrina Cant
A truly otherworldly piece of art glass, this glass prism has been cast and finely polished to give the perfect glow. Based on layers of glass fused together and a solid understanding of colour reflection and geometry, Sabrina has managed to produce an art glass piece of great depth and unfathomable beauty.
Cast coloured sections of glass have been cut, shaped and then re-cast to achieve this space-like glow.
Every angle delivers something new, and its alluring beauty will bewitch your friends or business associates.
Glass Prism Artist
Sabrina Cant hails from Chelmsford in Essex, England and earned her MA from The Royal College of Art in 2004.
Her work has been exhibited right around the globe to much acclaim and he has won many prestigious awards including The Bombay Sapphire Prize and the Coburg prize for contemporary glass.
Her glass prism and other abstract pieces can be found in fine public and private collections across the world and her work is highly prized and extremely collectible.
Her inspiration comes from the natural world and celestial bodies. She uses colour very specifically, and colour combinations are carefully selected and made into almost musical arrangements. Sabrina also uses colour to achieve subtle effects that add a mysterious slant to the inner harmonies of her work.
Colour layers are built up within pieces in much the same way as an artist creating an oil painting, the main difference being that Sabrina works in the 3 dimensional space.
Each coloured layer section is cast and polished with up to 5 firings until the precise level of reflective glow has been created within the geometry of the abstract piece.
Now working from her glass studio on Eel Pie Island, Twickenham, England, she is also the visiting lecturer at the UCA in Farnham.
