Contemporary Art Glass Sculpture by Graeme Hawes
Graeme Hawes has created a contemporary art glass sculpture through the technique of free hand-blown glass. Rich colours of blues and teal are swirled through the limpid glass to give an aqua effect of a wave, especially if viewed from the rippled edge. This contemporary art glass sculpture has been polished to a high finish to give a crystal clear cool presence.
N.B. Please note the image shown is an example of ones in the series. Slight variations in colour and form will occur as every piece is uniquely fashioned just for you. Therefore, no two pieces of Graeme Hawes Glass art are ever the same. Graeme personally signs each piece.
Contemporary Art Glass Sculpture Artist
Graeme Hawes is an incredibly talented and experienced glass artist. Graeme graduated with a BA (Hons) in 3D Design in ceramics and glass from Sunderland University. He then went on to gain an MA in glass design at the Royal College of Art (RCA).
Since completing his MA in 1995, Graeme has enjoyed working as a freelance glassmaker and designer. The movement and fluidity of the material in the making process is essential to the creation of his free hand-blown art glass. This fluidity is a key factor for his inspiration in the final design and form. Graeme enjoys making his own creative designs and also works to client specification.
Graeme’s beautiful and colourful glass sculptures are highly regarded and sought after. You can find his decorative and unique contemporary art glass in many shops and galleries throughout the UK and internationally.
Furthermore, his work has also been featured in many magazines. These include The Guardian weekend supplement, The Sunday Times Style Magazine and Elle Decoration.
In addition to making and designing, Graeme also had the pleasure of teaching for many years. He was a senior lecturer at the School of Design, De Montfort University (DMU), Leicester. He also taught as a visiting lecturer at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University and Lancaster Central University. Graeme has stopped lecturing to concentrate on his own amazing designs.
