Susan Brown BAHons. HonDArts. MCSD is an interior architect and a painter. Susan Brown art has won many art prizes and awards. Her awards include the Penrose Purchase Prize – Discerning Eye / Prizes at the Sunday Times W/C competition / Hunting Observer / Lynn Painter Stainer and a regional winner at the Laing competition.
Susan’s work is mostly watercolour and acrylic to produce contemporary paintings that are bold and striking. Much of Susan’s work features European cities, with a focus on architecture and man’s relationship with his environment. However, Susan also creates beautiful abstract paintings which are inspired by still life subjects and landscapes, focusing on texture and pattern.
The inspiration Susan Brown’ most recent work includes man-made structures, natural world patterns, the cycle of growth and decay, the very structure of life and the continuum of the life cycle.
Talking about her paintings Susan says ‘’I look at a field, it’s content and it’s changing form over the seasons. I look at the connection, the structure that links the air and the earth and the power of every day”. These ideas are translated into bold, colourful and evocative paintings.
A number of private and public contemporary art collections hold Susan Brown art paintings. These include The Royal Bank of Canada, HBOS, Universities of York and Sheffield, and the National Trust.
Susan Brown art has been represented and is shown by galleries in the UK, and has been represented internationally at art fairs in New York, Hong Kong and Singapore.
