Studio Glass Vessel ‘Serta Collection, Stone Strata’ by Emma Nightingale
Stone Strata is a beautiful studio glass vessel. It is part of Emma’s Serta Collection. Inspired by the wonderous hills, forests, and rivers of Northern Portugal. Emma has created this stunning vessel, highlighting the stone forms found amongst the hills, set against the glorious blue skies. Sandblasted and oiled to give a texture true of the nature it conveys.
Each studio glass vessel is signed by the artist with an imprint.
Studio Glass Vessel Artist
It was in 2000 when a friend suggested a glass taster weekend that Emma Nightingale’s journey with glass began. Previously working with mosaic’s it was easy to transfer some of her skills. Progressing from this weekend Emma attended half-day workshops in Luton, where she was also able to hire out the studio, tools and kiln under supervision to explore her interest.
Inspired from her childhood visits to her ancestor’s birthplace, Cromarty, in the Scottish Highlands. The breadth and depth of colours, endless skies and shimmering beaches has forever remained with her. Using the colours, form, movement and textures found within the natural landscape. Emma looks to create unique pieces with a balance in design, tone, and texture. To create individual and distinctive objects of great beauty and desire.
Emma views glass as a continuous learning curve. She actively attends workshops and masterclasses with those artists whose work she admires. This allows her to develop new work and keep it fresh.
Emma works from her studio in Cromarty where she designs and creates functional interior collections, glass for gardens and increasingly works to commission. She regularly exhibits in both Scotland and England.
Emma is a board member of Scottish Glass Society and a member of the Contemporary Glass Society and Applied Arts Scotland.
